๐ข The Government of India has officially launched the first phase of Census 2027, introducing a modern and citizen-friendly self-enumeration system. This marks a significant step towards India’s first fully digital census.
๐ค Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration process. He highlighted that accurate data collection plays a crucial role in effective governance, policy-making, and future development planning.
๐ป What is Self-Enumeration?
Citizens can now fill and submit their household details online at their convenience, making the process faster, easier, and more transparent.

Important Dates (Maharashtra):
• Self-Enumeration Period: 1 May to 15 May 2026
• House Listing & Verification: 16 May to 14 June 2026

๐ Key Highlights:
• Self-enumeration is optional but highly encouraged
• If not completed online, government enumerators will visit homes later
• The process takes around 15–20 minutes with approximately 33 questions
• After submission, an 11-digit unique SE ID (starting with “H”) will be generated
• This ID must be shown during the door-to-door verification phase

From 16 May to 14 June 2026, government officials will visit households to verify or collect data.
