Iran-Israel War: A New Middle East Power Shift

When someone underestimates their enemy, they often face an unexpected defeat. This is exactly what happened with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He believed Iran was weak and could be defeated in days with American support.

However, the 12-day conflict proved the opposite. Iran showed unexpected strength, forcing Israel to seek a ceasefire. The first round of the war clearly went in Iran’s favor.

For the first time, Iran’s military entered deep into Israeli territory and caused major destruction. The Iranian response shook Israel and exposed its vulnerability.

Middle East power dynamics are changing. Earlier, Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and Israel dominated the region. Now, Iran is rising as a new superpower.

Iran’s strength didn’t emerge overnight. It’s the result of 25-30 years of military development and research. Two key strengths helped Iran surprise everyone.

First is Iran’s hypersonic missile technology. These missiles travel ten times faster than sound and can bypass Israel’s Iron Dome and American defense systems.

Iran’s missiles hit sensitive locations: Israeli military bases, Mossad HQ, arms warehouses, even economic centers like Microsoft buildings and stock exchange offices.

No country in 50 years has dared to attack Israel so deep and so directly. Iran became the first country to do so openly.

Secondly, Iran is also the only country in recent times to attack American military bases in the Middle East directly, with clear public announcements.

Even Russia during the Cold War never dared to do what Iran has done now. Iran’s message was: no talks until revenge is complete.

Now comes the big question. The ceasefire, helped by Trump, Putin, and Qatar—will it last? Or is this just a temporary break?

Experts believe this is only Round 1 of the war. Final conflict is still pending. So, this ceasefire may be short-lived.

As peace talks begin, many wonder if Iran’s demands will be accepted. Will the U.S. agree to Iran’s terms? Will Israel interfere?

Iran may send its President for talks, and the U.S. may be represented by Trump or his allies. Third-party mediators like Russia or Britain may join too.

Iran’s conditions include lifting sanctions, continuing its nuclear program, and ensuring Gaza’s security and support.

The concern is whether Israel and the U.S. will accept these terms. If not, negotiations may collapse, leading to a second round of war.

Iran has resources, manpower, and the will to fight long-term. So, Israel preferred to pause the war rather than face total collapse.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei still doesn’t trust Israel. He believes Israel never respects any agreements, citing Gaza and Syria as examples.

Khamenei, an experienced leader and a poet, has deep respect for India. He visited India in the 1980s and met Indira and Rajiv Gandhi.

He appreciates Nehru and Gandhi’s struggle against British rule and values India’s history and literature.

On Kashmir, Khamenei has expressed hope that India will resolve the issue constitutionally. He hasn’t sided with Pakistan.

He believes Israel is not trustworthy and seeks regional domination. He also doubts Trump’s sincerity due to his inconsistent statements.

Iran’s clear goals now are to lift U.S. sanctions, continue its peaceful nuclear program, and maintain ties with regional allies.

The U.S., on the other hand, demands Iran to stop nuclear enrichment, missile programs, and cut links with groups like Hezbollah.

Iran refuses to stop its missile development, calling it essential for national defense. On nuclear issues, it promises only peaceful uses.

Iran also wants freedom to trade and rebuild its economy. However, U.S. sanctions make that extremely difficult.

Sanctions block Iran’s use of international banking systems and restrict the sale of essential technology and equipment.

Even foreign companies are afraid to trade with Iran due to American pressure. Insurance and shipping companies also face threats if they work with Iran.

Despite the sanctions, Iran is still selling oil and earning revenue, though with difficulty. It is now focusing on developing ties with non-Western countries.

Iran is also strengthening its role in groups like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to create alternate economic paths.

In summary, Iran is playing smart. It wants peace but won’t bow down. Israel, shaken and frustrated, may try again. But Iran is prepared.

The ceasefire might not be permanent. Trust is fragile. But this war has changed how the world sees Iran—as a bold and powerful regional force.
