The All India Shia Personal Law Board has strongly opposed the government's neglect of the Waqf Bill.
Board's General Secretary, Maulana (Dr.) Yasub Abbas, said that before passing this bill, the Muslim community was not consulted, which has caused deep concern.
More than 5 crore emails were sent, and every section of the bill was analyzed in detail, but the government did not consider the objections. Since the 31-member parliamentary committee had a majority from the ruling party, Muslim community arguments were ignored, and the bill was made even stricter.
Maulana Yasub Abbas said that their only demand is to protect Waqf properties and ensure that no law affects religious and social activities. He urged the government to reconsider and hold discussions, stating that the Muslim community will express its views democratically and hopes for justice.
The Board also urged the government's allied parties to review the bill fairly and understand the Muslim community's concerns. They plan to raise this issue at national and international platforms.
