Panic broke out at the annual journalists’ dinner event held at a Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C., after a suspect opened fire, discharging 3–4 rounds. At the time of the incident, former President Donald Trump, the First Lady, and JD Vance were present at the venue. According to initial reports, the attacker targeted a Secret Service agent, but the officer remained unharmed.

Following the incident, Trump addressed the media from the White House, calling the situation shocking and confirming that the suspect was armed with a powerful weapon. He also stated that the attacker has been apprehended and is currently being interrogated by investigation agencies.
