On Saturday 6th December 2025, A partial inauguration of the KEM Urban Health Training Center in Malvani took place today, where BJP leader and Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and local MLA Aslam Shaikh jointly held and cut the ribbon. Dean Dr. Sangeeta Rawat was also present at the ceremony.
Many citizens questioned the rush, as several permissions are still pending and full facilities are not yet ready. This raised concerns that the event may be linked to the upcoming BMC elections. Since 2013, efforts have continued to make this hospital fully operational, but slow administrative procedures and technical delays kept the project stuck. Work had gained pace during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, yet in the last four years progress again slowed due to multiple hurdles.
Good healthcare is a basic right, and the current condition of Mumbai’s health system remains worrying. Instead of addressing core healthcare issues, today’s event carried strong political tones. Efforts continue to ensure dialysis, MRI, and other key facilities become available soon, with hopes that the government speeds up the remaining work without political blame games.
